RESURRECTING ART ON THE EVE OF EASTER

This Saturday will be Clientele’s first show since January, and it feels good to be back at it. Vintage Resurrection will be an interesting show due to the restraints it put on its artists. The arists can must find an old piece of art from a thrift store, and add their spin to it. I’ve been excited to see everyone’s works since Chad Fullerton and Tony Provenzano told me who was a part of the show. Yesterday, I decided to write a quick post about the show and haphazardly asked a few of the artists about what they found and what they created. Here is what Natalie and Mindi had to say. Consider it a teaser for what to expect at the show!

“I am kind of addicted to the 80’s movies I grew up watching. They made it into the paintings as the main subject matter in “Audrey II” from Little Shop of Horrors and the sweet Sasquatch Harry from Harry and the Hendersons. The third ocean scene was inspired by Rene Magritte’s surrealistic door paintings. I added a rectangle strip and turned that into a night scene with a crescent moon and the constellation Virgo in the stars.”

“I found my paintings under the stairs at Barnesville antique mall, one of my favorite places to check out on the weekends for old junk. The idea for this show is ideal for me because I already really enjoy re-purposing vintage and thrifted items!”

NATALIE KOVACS

Natalie creates “weird and whimsical art” as Shapelessflame.
